FEEDUARY stops in a Glenview PS to visit their Student Nutrition Program
It has been a fantastic few weeks welcoming members of the community to visit our Student Nutrition Programs across the region. Today we had the pleasure of hosting our final visit to Glenview PS in Burlington.
Guests including HDSB Director of Education Curtis Ennis, Superintendent of Education Aiman Flahat, Superintendent of Education Nick Frankovich, Burlington Councilor Kelvin Galbraith, Dana Brown from Burlington Foundation and staff from miniGiants were welcomed by Glenview volunteer and Halton Food for Thought Board member Chelsea Bristow to help prepare and deliver the breakfast carts to students. To help ensure that all students have access to this morning meal and food throughout the day, carts are located outside the entrance doors, as well as snack bins in each classroom. Having consistent places for students to go helps to increase access to the food for students to enjoy at the start of their day.
“I am lucky to hold different hats at Halton Food for Thought as a Board Member and the lead volunteer of this Student Nutrition Program, I get a unique view on all sides of the work that is done,” said Chelsea. “As a parent, it makes me happy to know the students at my local school are being supported in their day ahead through access to this food. As a board member, I am proud to support this work knowing it is open to ALL students in a school community reaching everyone who needs it at Glenview and across Halton.”
“I am fortunate to get to work with passionate volunteers such as Chelsea,” added Carrie Baillie, Community Development Manager at Halton Food for Thought. “She is one of many volunteers in the Burlington community who steps up daily to help students in reaching their full potential through access to our programs. Getting to bring attention to this during FEEDUARY allows us to highlight the importance of our volunteers in helping us reach over 95,000 students across Halton.”
Thank you to Glenview PS, their staff, volunteers and students for welcoming members of the Burlington community into your school to help us share the impact of Student Nutrition Programs! To learn more about Halton Food for Thought visit: About Us
