Don’t miss your chance at getting one of these beautiful bags in support of HFFT by visiting Elaine at the Mistletoe Mart on November 9.

Pass It on Bags will be at the Mistletoe Mart on November 9 for a second year in a row selling their one-of-a-kind bags in support of Halton Food for Thought (HFFT). Started by Elaine Jutras, a long-time supporter of HFFT, first as a volunteer at the Aldershot School program she now creates beautiful bags that she sells annually to raise funds for HFFT. Inside each bag there is a label Enjoy this bag or pass it on and a place for you to sign your name so people can remember who it came from. Elaine has even heard stories of bags coming full circle and returning to their original owner!

“I have fond memories of volunteering at the Aldershot program, and when I stopped volunteering, I wanted to find a way to continue to support Halton Food for Thought. I have seen the value of these programs firsthand and want to support this important work.” said Elaine, “I had lots of fabric my mother left to me, and I thought, why not put this towards a good cause and inspire others to pay it forward. It has grown from there where I even get donations from friends to help me continue this tradition”

Elaine offers these bags once per year, and for the second year in a row she is going to the Mistletoe Mart at Port Nelson United Church in Burlington to sell her bags. Join her and other vendors on Saturday, November 9 from 9am – 2pm to get one of her bags, this year featuring reusable gift bags – an extra special way to wrap your presents this holiday season.

“We are grateful for our community supporters like Elaine, who know (like us) how important and beneficial these programs are to students ensuring they have access to nutritious food at school to support their day ahead.” Executive Director of HFFT Aliya Khawari shared, “Over the past four years she has donated almost $5000 to support our work, if we equate that to meals it means she has supported 2500 meals being served to students during this time which is outstanding! Thank you so much Elaine.”
