Grabbing a snack with Montclair Public School’s Student Nutrition Program

As we kick off 2024, Halton Food for Thought is proud to highlight the Student Nutrition Program at Montclair Public School in Oakville and the involvement of their students. Student leaders are essential to Montclair's Healthy Food Bin Plus Program. Every day, during the 2nd Nutrition Break, grade 7 & 8 students arrive at the school’s snack room and fill their carts with healthy and fresh snacks. Popular items include: cheese strings, apple slices, grapes, cucumbers, mandarin oranges and yogurt. These snacks are in addition to the Healthy Food Bins in each classroom that contain non-perishable items like granola bars, crackers, cereal etc. which all students are encouraged to access. These students show such wonderful dedication to the program. They take the initiative to ensure the snack carts are full of delicious healthy snacks, wiping down the bins and carts and restocking the fridge when food deliveries arrive. Without these important student volunteers, we wouldn't be able to ensure no student goes hungry at Montclair PS.

Thank you for your dedication to your schools Student Nutrition Program!
